When heading into his return bout with world Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, former titlist Anthony Joshua wanted to switch things up. As a result, the Brit left long-time trainer Rob McCracken and enlisted the help of former Trainer of the Year Robert Garcia.

However, when the new pair were unsuccessful in their attempt at recapturing the gold in August of last year, it was suggested that the match may be a one and done.

Soon thereafter, Garcia himself stated in the media that Joshua was seeking a new trainer, and that search was ongoing for the majority of late-2022. However, according to Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn, a new trainer has been discovered. However, he is most comfortable with letting the fighter himself reveal his new guide in the corner.

"I know who the new trainer is," Hearn told The DAZN Boxing Show. "It's quite a personal thing really. I think it's for a fighter to announce that, with his new team. I speak a lot, I do a lot of interviews. I'll speak on his fights.

While he didn't reveal a name, Hearn did reveal the location.

"He is going to train in America and he is going to start that camp in the next week, he'll be flying out. So you guys will get the news soon," suggested Hearn.

According to Hearn, the decision to keep his training camps in America is the right one. The different environment allows Joshua to focus solely on preparation, away from the distractions of England, where Joshua is a massive star.

If all goes according to plan, Hearn claims return date for AJ will be April 1. The opponent has yet to be disclosed.
