On January 28 at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and live on Showtime, world Jr. Middleweight champion Jermell Charlo will take on undefeated challenger Tim Tszyu.

During the virtual press conference for their encounter, Charlo discussed the mindset he has going into the contest. While he's aware of the challenges Tszyu may present, he's not lacking one ounce of confidence heading into his title defense.

"‍I knew once I got to this point in my life, I would have to face nothing but the top tier guys," Charlo insisted. "That's all I've ever faced my whole career, my whole life. I don't underestimate anyone, but Tim Tszyu is not of the caliber of Jermell Charlo.

Tszyu, the son of Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu, will look to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming a world champion. And while Charlo respects his opponent's family history in the sport, Jermell feels his time spent in the game will allow for his success on the night.

"Your father has done some things in boxing, and we understand there's a blood line, I feel you," Charlo continued. "But my pedigree is strong. My pedigree is proven and (me being on top) has been destined for all these years and time."

In some ways, this is the most respectful Jermell has been heading into this contest. However, that isn't anything new. Jermell is a fiery fighter that seems to need to put something on the line to rile himself up. Quite frankly, as long as he keeps fighting the best, he can snap on every single opponent he faces.
