NEWS: KELL BROOK DISCUSSES THE STRUGGLES OF RETIREMENT
By: Jay Calderon
Earlier this month, the recently retired Kell Brook was interviewed by Boxing King Media and discussed his life after boxing.
The former Welterweight titlist was candid, admitting that the transition has been harder than some might expect. While Brook had a solid career and presumably made more than enough money to set himself up for life, the Sheffield native has struggled with finding ways to keep himself busy.
"I am a bit lost at the minute," Brook expressed. "Obviously, I've put the time in with my girls. We're going for nice walks, (rides) on the bikes. We're flying to different places. You know, just got to keep busy."
Having started boxing at 12 years of age, the 36-year-old likens closing the book on his career as a death to his former self.
"(I boxed for) 27 years -- it's a little bit like I've died, in a way, because boxing's been my life. It's all I really know to a certain degree. It is hard when you hang them up and try to transfer into something different," stated Brook.
While this isn't exactly breaking news, I figured it was worth sharing as a reminder of how difficult the second faze of a fighter's life can become. Hopefully, Brook remains healthy and finds happiness outside the ring as time progresses.
