NEWS: TYSON FURY VS. OLEKSANDR USYK FALLS APART, FIGHT NOT HAPPENING

UPDATE: According to further reports, the biggest issued that ultimately forced a stop. To negotiations was the split of a potential rematch. Usyk, taking 70/30 in Fury's favor for the initial contest, wanted the split reversed in his own favor provided he were victorious in the first bout. Fury and his team wouldn't agree to the split, and wanted 50/50 for a return.
According to sources from the camps of both WBC Heavyweight titlist Tyson Fury and Ring Magazine World Heavyweight and IBF/WBA/WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk, talks pertaining to a unification bout on April 29 in London have ultimately fallen short.
Boxing writer Steve Kim reported that, while the 70/30 split in favor of Fury had been agreed upon, the sides couldn't map out other details that worked for both sides.
"No matter how much Usyk compromised, he was pushed for more," the manager of Oleksandr, Egas Klimas, told Kim.
Earlier this month, both sides seemed on their way to a finalized deal. The camps had informed the WBA that a tentative agreement was reached, which allowed Usyk to avoid facing contender Daniel Dubois in favor of the unification bout. However, since then, talks have obviously stalled and have ultimately come to an end for the time being.
Now, one imagines, Usyk will need to begin concerning himself with mandatory challengers. Up first could be the aforementioned WBA mandatory in Dubois, though Usyk will ultimately have to deal with IBF challenger Filip Hrgovic at some point as well.
Fury, on the other hand, is in a bit of limbo at the point. The winner of the bout between former titlist Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz was to earn a shot at the "Gypsy King". However, Wilder-Ruiz also failed to materialize.
