PICK: CANELO ALVAREZ VS. JAIME MUNGUIA
By: Jay Calderon
On Saturday, May 4, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and live on Amazon Prime and DAZN pay-per-view, undisputed Super Middleweight world champion Canelo Alvarez will take on undefeated, former world titlist Jaime Munguia.
Alvarez (60-2-2, 39KOs) has won three straight since suffering the second loss of his career back in May of 2022. In that loss, Canelo was out-boxed throughout the contest by Dmitry Bivol up at Light-Heavyweight. Most recently, Alvarez soundly defeated former undisputed Jr. Middleweight champion Jermell Charlo in September of last year.
Munguia (43-0-0, 34KOs) has remained perfect as a professional, with only one real close call in his career. That close call was with Sergiy
Derevyanchenko back in June of last year, where Munguia had to rally late to earn the win. Since then, Munguia put forth one of his better performances with a stoppage over former title challenger (and Canelo foe) Jon Ryder, stopping the Brit in nine rounds back in January.
Check out my pick for Canelo-Munguia in the video above.
