PICK: JAIME MUNGUIA VS. ERIK BAZINYAN
By: Jay Calderon
On Friday, September 20, at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, and live on ESPN, former world titlist Jaime Munguia will return against unbeaten contender Erik Bazinyan.
Munguia (43-1, 34KOs) is coming off the first loss of his career, which came at the hands of Canelo Alvarez back in May of this year. Prior to the loss, Munguia had stopped seven of his previous ten opponents, including John Ryder back in January. It was only the second time the veteran Ryder had been stopped as a pro.
Bazinyan (32-0-1, 23KOs) has remained mostly unblemished as a pro, save for a split decision draw Erik settled for in his last outing. Back in May of this year, Bazinyan was unable to figure out Shakeel Phinn and the cards were effectively even in the end. Prior to the draw, Bazinyan had stopped six of his previous ten.
