PICKS: VERGIL ORTIZ VS. FREDRICK LAWSON & MORE

On January 6, at the The Theater, in the Virgin Hotels Los Vegas, in Nevada, and live on DAZN, Vergil Ortiz will make his 154 pound debut when he takes on Fredrick Lawson.

Ortiz (19-0, 19KOs), as mentioned, will be making his Jr. Middleweight debut in the new year. Ortiz, inactive due to illness, failed to step into the ring in 2023, last competing in August of 2022, stopping Michael McKinson in the ninth frame.

Lawson (30-3, 22KOs) has had mixed results in his last handful of contests, putting forth a record of 3-2 over that stretch. Most recently, Lawson earned a unanimous decision over Estevan Villabos back in April of last year.

Also on the card, Ohara Davies (25-2, 18KOs) will take on Ismael Barroso (24-4-2, 22KOs) will battle it out for an interim title at 140 pounds. Check out my picks for these fights as well as more in the video above.
