PREVIEW: JOSE RAMIREZ VS. RICHARD COMMEY
By: Jay Calderon
On Saturday, March 25, at the Save Mart Center in Fresco, California, and live on ESPN, former Jr. Welterweight champion Jose Ramirez will battle former Lightweight titlist Richard Commey.
Ramirez, 27-1 with 17KOs, will be returning to action for the first time since a victory over Jose Pedraza back in March of last year. Prior to the Pedraza encounter, Ramirez suffered his only professional loss with a decision defeat at the hands of world champion Josh Taylor back in May of 2021.
Richard Commey, 30-4-1 with 27KOs, has had mixed results as of late. In his last four outings, Commey has gone 1-2-1, with his most recent outing being a draw against the aforementioned Pedraza back in August of last year. The last win for Commey came against the lightly-heralded Jackson Marinez back in February of 2021.
