RESULTS: CLARESSA SHIELDS RETAINS, EASILY DECISIONS MARICELA CORNEJO

On Saturday at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, and live on DAZN, undisputed Middleweight world champion Claressa Shields made easy work of late replacement Maricela Cornejo, earning a convincing unanimous decision.

From the very beginning, Shields was in total control, pressing the action and forcing Cornejo into something of a survival mode. Shields was landing big right hands, both as a lead as well as when she was countering the odd shot Cornejo could muster.

At different points in the contest, Shields seemed on the verge of possibly dropping Cornejo, maybe even ending the contest early. However, in the end, the American had to settle for a dominant decision.

Scores were 100-90 twice and 100-89 in favor of Shields. JOB had it for Shields, 100-90.
