RESULTS: JESSICA NERY PLATA TOPS KIM CLAVEL IN CANADA, UNIFIES JR. FLYWEIGHT

On Friday in Laval, Canada, Mexico's Jessica Nery Plata earned a hard-fought ten round unanimous decision victory over previously-unbeaten Kim Clavel, partially unifying the Jr. Flyweight division in the process.

Early in the contest, Clavel was the aggressor, coming forward and applying pressure. However, Plata was landing the more telling blows soon enough, busting up her foe, and seemingly always getting the better of the exchanges.

By the end of the fight, it was Plata that seemed to be more aggressive, allowing her to finish strong. Though, it should be stated, Clavel refused to wilt, and certainly kept the cards close. Still, the judgesb correctly ruled in favor of Plata, with tallies of 97-93 twice and 96-94.
