On Saturday at the AO Arena in Manchester, England, Liam Smith put forth an early candidate for Upset of the Year, stopping Chris Eubank, Jr. in four frames.

In the opening round, both were looking to set the tone for their style of fight. Smith was looking to come forward and make it physical, while Eubank was jabbing and looking to box. The second frame saw a bit more of the same.

In the third, Eubank jabbed through the first half of the round, but put together solid combinations on the inside to close out the period. However, in the fourth, despite all the odds and expectations, Smith landed a clipping right hand that wobbled Eubank, Jr.

With Eubank in the corner, two left hands by Smith badly dropped the usually iron-chinned Brit. While Eubank beat the count, the follow-up by Smith dropped Eubank once more, causing the referee to halt the action. Time of the stoppage was 1:09 of the fourth.

In the co-featured bout of the evening, undefeated Cruiserweight Richard Riakporhe made easy work of former world titlist Krzysztof Glowacki, stopping him in the fourth round of action.

Riakporhe was measured, taking his time in the opening frame, but clearly imprinting his pace and style on the fight. In the second and third, Riakporhe stepped it up a bit more, and landed a few solid lead back hands that scored well.

In the fourth, Riakporhe landed a right hand that stunned Glowacki, who then stumbled into the corner. THe follow up barrage forced the referee to step in and wave off the contest. Time of the stoppage was 2:44 of the fourth.
