RESULTS: TERENCE CRAWFORD KNOCKS DAVID AVANESYAN OUT COLD; TEOFIMO LOPEZ EARNS SHAKY DECISION OVER SANDOR MARTIN
By: Jay Calderon
On Saturday at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska, and live on pay-per-view, Welterweight titlist Terence Crawford made fairly easy work David Avanesyan, stopping him cold in the sixth round of action.
Avanesyan was aggressive from the start, but the measured and controlled Crawford remained poised, and set up the cleaner, more effective work. Finally, that approach paid off, when Crawford, now 39-0 as a professional, landed a two punch combination that stopped the Russian in his tracks.
With the loss, Avanesyan dropped to 29-4-1, while Crawford made the sixth straight defense of his gold, having stopped every challenger in the process.

While Teofimo Lopez may have improved to 18-1 after his bout with Sandor Martin at the Theatre in New York's Madison Square Garden, it wasn't the performance he was looking to deliver.
Martin dropped Lopez in the second frame and seemed to have the better moments throughout the fight. Lopez, who question whether he still "had it" aloud, simply never got going and looked like he was chasing more than catching far too often.
However, in the end, the judges mostly felt as though he did enough, with two of the decision-makers scoring for Lopez, 97-92 and 96-93. The third judge had it for Martin, 95-94.
