SCHEDULE: CLARESSA SHIELDS DEFENDS MIDDLEWEIGHT GOLD AGAINST MARICELA CORNEJO & MORE

OnThursday at the Montreal Casino in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and live on ESPN, Super Middleweight prospect Erik Bazinyan will take on Jose De Jesus Macias.

Bazinyan, 29-0 with 21 stoppages, last competed in February, earning a majority decision over Alantez Fox after ten frames. A fairly close fight, it was likely the toughest test Bazinyan has faced as a professional.

Macias, 28-11-4 with 14KOs, has a record of 2-2-1 in his last handful of encounters. Most recently, Macias lost a decision to Pavel Silyagin in July of last year.

On Saturday at the Little Ceasars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, and live on DAZN, undisputed Middleweight world champion Claressa Shields will defend his gold against replacement opponent Marcela Cornejo.

In October of last year, Shields defeated rival Savannah Marshall, unifying the 160 pound division in the process. With the win, Shields improved to 13-0 with 2KOs.

Cornejo, 16-5 with 6KOs, is riding a three fight win streak, having been defeated last in 2021. Most recently, Cornejo competed in March, having stopped Sheila Cunha in a single round.
