SCHEDULE: JANIBEK ALIMKHANULY TAKES ON STEVEN BUTLER; JASON MOLONEY & VINCENT ASTROLABIO FIGHT FOR GOLD & MORE
By: Jay Calderon
On Friday at the York Hall in London, England, and live on BT Sport, undefeated Ellis Zorro will take on veteran Hosea Burton.
Zorro, most recently, earned an eight round points decision over Dec Spelman. With the win, the 30-year-old Zorro improved to 15-0 with 6 stoppages.
Burton, currently riding a two fight win streak, last competed in December, where he earned a decision over Darryl Sharp. With the win, Burton improved to 28-3 with 12 stoppages.
On Saturday at the OVO Arena in London, England, and live on DAZN pay-per-view, social media influencer KSI will take on Joe Fournier in a Cruiserweight contest.
Also on Saturday, Middleweight titlist Janibek Alimkhanuly will defend his gold against little-known Steven Butler at the Stockton Arena in Stockton, California, and live on ESPN.
In his most recent outing, the undefeated Alimkhanuly outscored the very tough Denzel Bentley, earning a unanimous decision in the process. With the win, Janibek improved to 13-0 with 8KOs.
Butler, 32-3-1 with 26KOs, most recently competed in December, earning a points victory over Joshua Conley. Butler is currently riding a four fight win streak.
In the co-featured bout of the evening, Jason Moloney will take on Vincent Astrolabio for a vacant portion of the Bantamweight title.
Moloney last fought in October, earning a decision over Nawaphon Kaikanha that saw his record improve to 25-2 with 19 stoppages. Moloney is currently riding a four fight win streak.
Astrolabio, 18-3 with 13KOs, hasn't lost since 2018. Most recently, Astrolabio competed in December, stopping Nikolai Potapov in the sixth round of action.
Finally, at The Cosmopolitcan in Las Vegas, Nevada, and live on Showtime, the hilarious Rolando Romero will take on late replacement Ismael Barroso.
Originally scheduled to challenge Alberto Puello for his Jr. Welterweight gold before the titlist failed a drug test, Romero comes into the contest...off the back of a loss. In May of last year, Romero was stopped by the unbeaten Gervonta Davis in six frames. Prior to the loss, Romero was undefeated, but now stands at 14-1 overall.
Barroso, 24-3-2 with 22KOs, is riding a four fight win streak, having not tasted defeat since 2018. Most recently, Barroso defeated Fernando Saucedo, stopping him inside four frames.
