SCHEDULE: LEIGH WOOD VS. MAURICIO LARA, LUIS NERY VS. AZAT HOVHANNISYAN & MORE

On Saturday at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England, and live on DAZN, Featherweight titlist Leigh Wood will defend his gold against Mauricio Lara.

Wood, having compiled a professional record of 26-2, is in the best form of his career, and is facing perhaps the toughest test to date. In his most recent outing, Wood stopped previously-undefeated Michael Conlan in the twelfth frame back in March of last year.

Lara has stopped three of his last four opponents, adding to his 25-2-1 with 18 stoppages resume. in his last encounter, the hard-hitting Mexican made quick work of Jose Sanmartin back in October, stopping him in the third round of a shoot out.

Also on Saturday, and also airing on DAZN, former titlist Luis Nery will take on the hard-hitting Azat Hovhannisyan in the main event at the FOX Theater Pomona in Pomona, California.

Nery was last in action back in October, stopping David Carmona in the third frame to improve to 33-1 with 25KOs. It was the second win for Nery since his lone defeat as a pro, which came at the hands of Brandon Figueroa back in May of 2021.

Hovhannisyan, 21-3 with 17KOs, has gone 7-0 with 6KOs since his most recent loss, which was a decision defeat at the hands of Rey Vargas back in May of 2018. In his last encounter, Hovhannisyan easily handled Dagoberto Aguero back in April, ending matters in the second frame.
