WHAT WE LEARNED: PROGRAIS NEARLY PERFECT; WHYTE MAY BE DONE; CANELO VS. RYDER NEXT?
By: Jay Calderon
Over the weekend, there was quite a bit of action on both sides of the Atlantic.
Starting things off, we had Dillian Whyte looking less-than-impressive against previously-unbeaten American Jermaine Franklin, narrowly escaping with a majority decision.
Then, in London as the Whyte-Franklin encounter was, you saw John Ryder pick up a massive upset win over previously-undefeated Zach Parker. With the win, Ryder became mandatory challenger to superstar Canelo Alvarez.
Finally, Stateside, Regis Prograis captured vacant gold at 140 pounds with a one-sided stoppage win over Jose Zepeda. Now, with gold at the weight and a career-propelling performance, Prograis looks to be a major player at Jr. Welterweight.
Is Whyte done near the top at Heavyweight? Could Canelo really face Ryder in the UK? How good was Prograis? Check out what we learned over the weekend in the video above. To check out the full results for the weekend, click here.
